We met at a mutual friend's gallery opening in Nairobi's Kilimani, both reaching for the same glass of wine at the same moment. Jelani insisted Amara take it; Amara insisted he keep it. Neither of us remembers who actually ended up with the wine, only that we talked until the gallery closed and the staff started stacking chairs around us. What followed was two years of long dinners, a shared love of jazz records, and Amara slowly teaching Jelani to appreciate art he used to walk straight past. Jelani proposed on Amara's birthday, at the same gallery where we met — down on one knee between the very painting she'd been admiring the night we first spoke. We're so happy to have you join us as we begin this next chapter together. Thank you for being part of our story, from the very beginning to this moment and everything still to come.
